Big news for SHS music department!
Spearfish High’s own alto saxophonist, Ian Cho, has officially been named to perform at the prestigious All-State Jazz Band!
After a competitive audition process, Ian will join the state’s elite musicians in Mitchell, SD from May 7–9, 2026. The event features two powerhouse big bands and one select combo, offering Ian a chance to showcase his improvisational skills and signature alto tone alongside other state finalists. The residency culminates in a massive showcase at the Mitchell Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
This final concert will feature the All-State Jazz ensembles performing alongside the All-State Show Choir for an unforgettable musical performance.
